I guess we all agree that it is not the same listening to a song we love when we play it at home than listening to it somewhere else like on the radio or in a public place ...well, at least that happens to me it makes me feel so proud every time I get to hear a Carpenters song played somewhere else so I wonder if you have heard a Carpenters song in a place that's not really "common" for that?? It happened to me in the gym my trainer knows that I love the Carpenters, he is a good friend of mine and he always tells me that he admires my taste in music well, one day while cooling down after a spinning class, he just said "This goes for Renata" and he played "Close to You" OMG, I was so happy cause I never thought I would listen to Karen Carpenter in the gym, haha. I even saw that the women that were over 40 or 50 actually knew the song the youngest ones seemed lost, though haha He has played it about 4 or 5 times ever since. It makes me feel very proud

Well, maybe when I worked on the double decker, I had my phone on shuffle and I used it to play some ecuadorian music. My phone has different kinds of music, and one day I was talking to a tourist who was ecuadorian but lived in New York about music, music, music. I was telling him how much I loved the Carpenters when they started to play out of the blue! I loved it, because you know, you're supposed to play ecuadorian music on a double decker bus.

The most unusual place I have heard a Carpenters song was at the gym (same as renata). This was way back in 1982. It was the song "(Want You) Back In My Life Again". It was during an aerobics class, the song worked quite well. I have also heard Carpenters in a nightclub. It was a C&W nightclub. They played "Sweet Sweet Smile" and it was a real hoot.

I put Carpenters songs on the jukebox in a pool club before because the modern auto-tune music was annoying me. I'm not sure everyone else was pleased...

Another odd place I heard Carpenters was several years ago I was in this pretty shabby thrift store in the bad part of town (searching for treasures) and unexpectedly the long unedited version of "Calling Occupants" was played on their piped in music. I was so surprised yet pleased because it was nice to hear a Carpenters song you usually do not hear in public.
