The question is pretty straight-forward. What was your favourite subject in school, and did you end up working/studying in that field? My favourite subject was English in school. I ended up studying Sociology, but I did work as an English teacher for a while, and now I'm a translator, so I guess I did end up working in it! Though the English in school was really literature, so it's not exactly the same. I completely forgot all about literature. I haven't read fiction in years.

Seriously, Jayne? What did you play?? Annie Bear, I was third string clarinet...... we were a big band..... at least 80 to 100 kids during my 4 years of high school.... and there were a lot of clarinet players.... so the first string clarinets were the best.... about 8 of them... and then came the second string clarinet players - probably about 5 of those and then there was the 3rd string! LOL! There was maybe 6 of us....... I didn't mind being in the third row of clarinets.... we got to sit in front of the percussion section... they were the cools kids of band! LOL! For every home football game we had to learn new music and new marching formations... and no bringing sheet music on the field... you had to memorize it all..... we got to compete in marching band competitions and that was always fun! During the winter months the band performs winter and spring concerts and played for the home basketball games, but my favorite was marching band.... loved marching during halftime of the football games and loved marching in parades! All of my close high school friends were in band and we even got to go on two band trips....once out to Yellowstone Park and once to Disney World. We got to march in the Disney World Mainstreet Parade! I got to shake Tigger's hand!!!! Good times and lots of good memories!

Easily English. I excelled at creative writing... it just came naturally. I also loved math.

When I entered university, I thought I would be an English major, because that was my favourite subject. I figured I'd teach. But then I took a psych class and a sociology class and I realized that I should be in a people-helping field.... so I became a social worker (much quicker than a psychologist!). I was a social worker for about five years before I became a stay at home mom, and then I ventured into youth ministry in the Anglican church (Episcopal). And right now, I'm between jobs because I am going through a midlife crisis and don't think I have any more compassion to distribute (Isn't that bad... I am burned out...) Someday I'll go back to a helping profession, but first I have to re-configure my life. Right now, I'm inbetween careers. Even so, I'm enjoying the little things in life... with minimum(ish) wage. This is my plan for the next little while.
